This website is the central platform for explaining to the public, the media, and policymakers the need to continue animal experimentation in biomedical research. Founded in 2014, EARA is actively committed to transparency. The organization coordinates national transparency agreements in Europe and around the world. These agreements encourage research institutions to be more transparent about their use of animal models.
The platform offers numerous resources explaining how animal studies contribute to medical progress, including drug development and the understanding of complex diseases. It also highlights the scientific community's commitment to the 3Rs principle (Replacement, Reduction, and Refinement), while acknowledging the current limitations of alternative, non-animal methods. Site visitors can access information notes, statistical data on animal use, and information on regulatory frameworks such as European Directive 2010/63/EU.
